Therapy for when you need more calm in your life

Your brain never turns off.

It feels like it’s always going.  Sometimes that’s a good thing.  It helps you juggle a bunch of different things, like caring for your family, managing the household, & building your career.  It feels like your constantly-moving-mind never misses a step…until it’s moving too fast and you can’t focus on anything.  Or you get stuck in a loop of thinking only about stress, fears, and worry.

When that happens, it feels like you’re in a spiral that you can’t escape from.  You can’t stop the thoughts from firing one after another.  You try to distract yourself but it only works for a little while and then those fears are right back in the forefront of your mind.  You can’t relax or sleep and if you stop moving - it feels like everything will fall apart.  You end up feeling on edge and overwhelmed.  Your only escape is doom scrolling on your phone - just staring at the screen, swiping over and over again. You want so desperately to be able to rest and turn off your mind, but you’re trapped in this world of never ending worry.

When things get the worst, do you become really hard on yourself?  Saying things like…

  • What’s wrong with you?

  • Why can’t you handle this?

  • It isn’t that hard

  • Everyone is depending on you

  • You’re letting everyone down

Do you catch yourself thinking…

  • This is too much

  • I don’t know what to do

  • I can’t handle this anymore

  • I don’t want to feel like this

  • I feel stuck, trapped, or suffocated

Whether you’re managing your family, the household, or trying to balance the pressure in your job-  (Working way more hours that you want to, and/or helping coworkers who are struggling) - At the end of the day,  you just want to be a good partner, parent, co-worker, or employee.  But the weight of it all is starting to press down on you.  It feels like you’re on a slowly sinking ship, and everyone else took the life rafts.  You’re alone and you know that things are not headed in a good direction.

  • Wanting to avoid things that trigger anxiety

Whether you deal with  mild worries or an anxiety disorder, I’m here to help.

How does Anxiety Therapy work?

You can share with me about what you’re dealing with.  I will ask some questions to get clarity and understand the big picture of how anxiety fits in your story and how it’s impacting your day to day life.  I may recommend EMDR Therapy, Hypnotherapy, IFS, or a combination.  These therapies are evidence-based and research shows they reduce symptoms of anxiety.  You can learn more about me and my approach to therapy here.

In addition to therapy, are there ways to reduce anxiety?

Yes, there are many options that I’m happy to discuss with you.  EMDR and Hypnotherapy are highly effective to reduce symptoms of anxiety.  You can also use mindfulness meditation, breathwork, or medication to help get relief.
