Therapy for when you want a deeper connection to yourself  & others

Can you relate?

You are a sensitive and caring person.  Sometimes you feel things so deeply that it scares or overwhelms you.  It can be confusing to feel so many things at once.  You may feel torn in different directions and not know which way to go or how you really feel deep inside.

You don’t always understand why you act the way you do.  You might think one thing but do something different.  Or maybe you feel stuck in a cycle and you don’t know why it’s so hard to break.  You really want to understand yourself and what’s happening inside your internal world.  You’re looking for someone to guide you.

You’re in the right place

Hi, I’m Lindsey.  I offer IFS Therapy to help sensitive and stressed out adults who want to reconnect with the deepest parts of themselves so they can live a life that is in line with what matters most & truly heal.

WHAT IS IFS THERAPY?

IFS (Internal Family Systems) Therapy focuses on understanding and building connections between the different parts of your internal system.  What’s an internal system?  Think about it this way: We all have different parts within us.  That’s why you often hear people say, “A part of me really liked that movie, but another part of me feels like it wasn’t realistic.”  We can feel many different ways at once because we are complex human beings.  IFS Therapy helps us to explore those different “parts” of us that carry different feelings or beliefs.

Have you heard about people trying to care for their inner child?  We all have a child-like part inside us that may hold a sense of innocence or wonder.  It may also be carrying pain from experiences that happened during childhood.

We all have Protector Parts that work to keep us safe and prevent any pain or harm from coming our way.  Someone may have a “judgemental part” that criticizes other people around them, or even themselves.

IFS Therapy seeks to understand the different parts of us and explores how those parts relate and respond to one another.  Many clients enjoy IFS Therapy because it is very deep work.  They often feel a sense of wonder after the session.  IFS Therapy helps clients come to understand how the different parts of them have helped them to cope in difficult situations.  Many clients share that IFS is their favorite type of therapy that we’ve done together.

WHAT IS AN IFS SESSION LIKE?

IFS sessions are spent getting to know these different parts and what roles they play. We learn what their jobs are and how they protect the wounded parts that hold our most painful experiences. By building a trusting connection with each part, we can get access to the very vulnerable parts and that is where the deep healing can take place.

IFS Therapy can help you:

  • Deepen your understanding of your feelings and why you do what you do

  • Build a stronger sense of trust and connection to yourself

  • Heal from painful past experiences

  • Grow in your ability to handle strong emotions

  • Expand your confidence and courage to be your true self

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT IFS THERAPY

If we are talking about different parts of myself, does that mean I have “multiple personalities” or Dissociative Identity Disorder?

No, we all have different parts of ourselves that feel differently.  While some people do deal with dissociative disorders, that is not as common as the media would lead us to believe.  All people can benefit from IFS Therapy and learn more about how the different parts of themselves feel and view the world.

Can IFS Therapy be combined with other therapeutic modalities?

Yes, IFS complements other therapies very well, especially EMDR Therapy.  I utilize both based on the goals and concerns of each client.
