Frequently Asked Questions

  • $190 for a 50-minute individual session.

$285 for an extended 90-minute EMDR, IFS, or Hypnotherapy session.

$380 for a 2 hour (110 minutes) session EMDR, IFS, or Hypnotherapy session.

Many people prefer extended sessions because we can cover more ground and really explore an issue without having to rush or cut it short.

If you’d like to check your out-of-network benefits, check out the reimbursement calculator located at the bottom of this page.

  • Payment is collected at time of service via credit card.

Clients will be charged the full fee for services if they do not cancel at least 48 hours before their appointment or if they no-show.

I use Ivy Pay to process payments, which we’ll set up in our intake session. Ivy Pay is a HIPAA-compliant credit card processing service, which is secure and confidential. Your card information is stored with Ivy Pay and I don’t have access to it.

    1. During the intake session, you’ll provide me with your mobile phone number, which I’ll enter into my Ivy Pay app along with a charge for the session fee.

    2. Ivy Pay will text you a secure link which leads to a page where you’ll enter your credit card information and approve the first charge.

    3. For future sessions, I’ll use Ivy Pay to charge the stored card you added during the first session. You’ll get a text informing you after each charge.

You’ll only be asked to enter your credit card information once (unless you need to change the card), and you don’t need to download an app.

  • I am not in-network with any insurance companies.

I am considered an out-of-network provider and can issue a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement based on your plan. Many insurance companies will provide you with 20% to 80% reimbursement for your sessions.

You can check your out-of-network reimbursement using the Mentaya calculator at the bottom of this page.

    • When you use insurance, you must have a “diagnosis” for the insurance company to process the claim.

    • Mental health diagnoses can stay in your medical history for an indefinite amount of time.

    • Some mental health diagnoses can affect whether you can get life insurance or, in some instances, certain jobs.

    • Insurance companies can limit the number of therapy sessions they reimburse. They can limit the length of time each session can last. This means you may have to settle for a shorter session than the therapist would typically do.

    • Your insurance company gets to decide what type of treatment is considered “medically necessary.” That means if you’re coming to therapy to address grief, your insurance could refuse to cover the cost of sessions because “grief” is not an official mental health diagnosis recognized by insurance companies.

    • When you use insurance, your insurance company will have access to your entire record if they request it. This means there is additional risk to your confidentiality and ability to maintain privacy around your medical records.

    • If an insurance claim is denied, you’re still responsible for the full cost of the services provided. Large, unexpected bills are never a pleasant surprise, especially when services occurred many months in the past. With private pay you don’t have to worry about unexpected bills for past service showing up.

    • Teletherapy may not be covered by all insurance plans. Most plans opted to cover telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this may change in the future and your eligibility for teletherapy may change at any time.

    • The option to pay privately makes it easier for you to find a therapist you really fit well with and connect with, instead of having to go with a therapist who is in network and may not be a good fit.

Only you can decide whether private pay is the right choice for you, especially if you have insurance that covers another provider.

  • I am online for people located in Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, and Vermont. Teletherapy gives me the opportunity to meet you anywhere you are. By operating a virtual practice, I can expand my services to all individuals in the above states, regardless of location.

  • All you need is an internet-connected device with a web camera and microphone and a quiet, private space. I provide my sessions via Zoom.

To join a session, simply follow the link I send to you prior to the appointment.

  • I am not offering in-person services currently. My services are 100% virtual so no matter where you are in Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, or Vermont, we can work together.

  • Everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy is an investment in yourself, but it’s also an act of self-compassion and self-care that can have life-long impacts.

Therapy offers a place to process our challenges and difficult thoughts, emotions, and feelings. It can provide us with the skills and tools to better manage life’s difficulties. We can use these skills to develop insights into ourselves, cope with challenging situations and live our best, most authentic lives according to our values.

Therapy works best when you are invested in the process. That’s why it’s important to find the therapist & type of therapy that works best for you. If I don’t offer the type of therapy you’re looking for I’ll help you to find someone who does.

  • Our first appointment together will include a review of your history, your primary concerns, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals for therapy, and we’ll revisit them regularly throughout treatment. We’ll review your right to confidentiality, informed consent, and any other questions you may have.

Therapy sessions are tailored to your needs and the goals we identify together during your first session. Our sessions will be a mix of talk therapy, learning and practicing new skills, and mindfulness/body-based work. We can include EMDR, IFS, and/or hypnotherapy for trauma work.

  • Therapy sessions are tailored to your needs and the goals we identify together during your first session.

The length of time you’re in therapy with me will depend on a variety of things, including:

    • the severity of your symptoms

    • how much time you spend working on skills between sessions

    • whether you want to solve a single issue or work on deeper issues

    • your financial considerations

As you go through sessions, we’ll talk about your progress periodically and will adjust our plans according to your needs.

  • Appointments must be cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment start time. You can cancel an appointment with me by contacting me directly via text, email or phone at least 48 hours before the start of our session.

If an appointment is canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, you’ll be charged the full session fee via Ivy Pay.

    No-Show Fee:

If you don’t cancel your session and don’t show up to your session at the scheduled time, you’ll be charged the full session fee via Ivy Pay.

    Late-cancel & no-show fees are non-refundable.

  • What we talk about in our sessions will remain confidential. I’m only able to share your information if you give me written & signed permission to do so.

There are a few situations where I must break confidentiality.

    Some of those situations include:

    • If I have reason to believe you may seriously harm or kill yourself, or if you tell me you intend to harm or kill yourself

    • If I have reason to believe you may seriously harm or kill someone else, or if you tell me you intend to harm or kill someone else

    • If you inform me of a child or vulnerable/dependent adult who is being abused

    • If I’m ordered by a judge to do so

I can only ensure confidentiality on my end. If you are attending virtual therapy in a common space in your home, in public, or in any other area where others may be able to see or hear you, I can’t guarantee your confidentiality in those places. I recommend finding a spot that is quiet and where you can close a door between yourself and others in your environment. We would never conduct an in-person session with the door open for anyone to hear and a virtual session should be the same.

  • I offer teletherapy during the following times:

    Monday – Thursday: 10am – 6pm (Last appointment is 6pm)

  • I do my best to respond to contacts within one business day, however I’m not always able to do so. Please know that I’ll get back to you as soon as I am able.

I do not respond to texts, emails, or phone calls after 7pm or prior to 9am. I don’t provide on-call or emergency mental health services.

If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation so we can determine if we’re the right fit for each other. Simply click the ‘Schedule Free Consult’ button above and complete the form. I’ll receive the request and we can set up a consultation time.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

    • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.

    • You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

    • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link:

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.
